Lyne Marshall

Lyne is an Australian contemporary landscape artist, and has exhibited in over 40 solo and numerous group exhibitions internationally.

After completing a degree in Visual Art in 1995, Lyne embarked on a lifelong exploration of artistic purpose. Specialising in contemporary landscape painting, Lyne works with acrylic on canvas, synthetic paper, and aluminium, while also experimenting with encaustic mediums and more recently revisiting sculpture.

A prolific creator, Lyne has authored four books on the subject of art, all of which remain in print.

Inspired by travel, nature, and constant exploration, Lyne thrives on learning and experimentation. A recipient of several awards, including the Queensland Flying Arts Award, Lyne’s work is held in multiple public collections.

Process

Lyne’s artistic process is deeply rooted in research and experimentation, continuously evolving through exploration and introspection. A pivotal moment in Lyne’s career came in 2000 when Canadian artist Gernot Dick inspired a shift towards a deeper sense of purpose in art-making. This quest for meaning was further influenced by a visit to Shanghai, where Lyne encountered the spiritually charged paintings of Chinese artist Zhou ChangJiang, sparking a profound transformation in approach and intent.

Lyne’s work embraces the meditative, inviting viewers to experience a sense of peace and healing, while also discovering new elements with each encounter.

Everyday experiences and a deep connection to nature fuel Lyne’s creative journey, ensuring that the process remains dynamic and ever-evolving.
