When I created Clouds of Calm, I aimed to capture a moment of light and serenity—a cloud formation bathed in gentle, warm hues that evokes a feeling of peacefulness. The texture and layering in this piece bring out a soft sense of movement, mirroring the natural flow of clouds across an open sky. My hope is that viewers find a sweet, calming energy in the light-filled expanse, a quiet reminder of the beauty in simplicity and stillness.

Sharmain is a Melbourne-based artist who transitioned from a 20-year non-creative career to painting full-time in 2016. Inspired by colour, textiles, and interior design, they use acrylics to create layered, textured works that invite viewers to discover hidden details. Growing up in Victoria's Yarra Valley, Sharmain now works daily in her home studio, driven by a lifelong passion for creativity.
